Replacing Plastic Office Chair Mats in the home or office can get very expensive. A money saving solution would be to use the hard brown Pegboard, found in most large hardware stores. A large 4'x8' sheet will run about $11.00. It can be cut down to any desirable size. After two months of everyday use the Pegboard showed no signs of wear. It looks a lot better than plastic, costs very little, wears a lot longer, matches the furniture, and my office chair rolls over it with ease. (Bert Dupree - Irving, Texas)

______
To make your box of Bounce dryer sheets last longer, tear them in half. A half sheet is usually plenty for a small to medium load of clothing. (Linda G.)

______
I wanted curtains to match the kid's blankets that I had bought. I also wanted it to be quick, easy and inexpensive to make the curtains. So, I found pillow cases that matched in the same section as the blankets I bought. I opened them along the seams, sewed the edges, and sewed a top area for the curtain rod to slide through. It looks great! (Wendy)

______
In order to get "all" the food out of a container such as ketchup, mustard, spaghetti sauce or any semi liquid in a sealable container. simply put the cap on tight, turn the container upside down, and whirl the container in windmill fashion rapidly for about 4 revolutions. All of the product will end up at the top of the container. (Alan A.)

I have two boys aged 6 and 1. Of course I kept most of the oldest one's clothes just in case, but what doesn't fit my younger one I put on consignment. We have a ton of local stores around here that will pay you cash and take items for consignment. They do this twice a year, in February and July. This really helps out because I'm able to purchase clothes for the new season with money brought in from the old. I put the money up because their birthdays fall in between season's so they always get clothes. I have a savings account and this way if we are going on a trip, to the fair, or what ever they always have their own spending money. (Liz B)

______
If you have $1000 in your savings account but owe $700 on a credit card, take the money from your savings to pay it off. While it's good to have money in your savings account, the interest on the credit card is usually a lot higher than the interest on the savings account. You will save money in the long run. (Tim H)

______
In our house we have three kids and on Friday nights the kids like to have movies and eat out. To save money and have fun we make special kid menus like frozen pizza, hamburgers, or nachos and of course popcorn. Then we check the tv guide for good family movies instead of renting or going to the theater. When we do rent a movie we use coupons from the local video rental store for rent one get one free. The kids always have alot of fun and look forward to family Fridays. (Connie C)

______
Take the money that you make from your yard sales, or from when you don't eat out, and save it.

______
Change builds up fast. Let the kid's put it in a big piggy bank for their future. With little ones, let them guess the coin before they can put it in the piggy bank.

______
Make a list of people you exchange gifts with at Christmas. Buy things on sale throughout the year and "wrap" them right away and store. Do this until done and there will be no last minute shopping or cramming to wrap presents.

______
If you know that you'll be on the road at lunchtime, take along a packed lunch such as peanut butter & jelly. Place in a small cooler. Or buy a sandwich from the deli in the grocery store. It's cheaper than fast food.

______
Library, library, library, and of course the internet. They provide the books and magazines for free. If you don't see a certain book in the library, ask the librarian to check the other area libraries, they do it via computer, and have it in a couple of days usually.

______
Prepared food tends to cost alot. Don't buy prepared, learn how to make it. You benefit also health wise as alot of prepared foods tend to have alot of sodium (salt) in them.

______
Trade toys, clothes etc. with your friends rather than buying all new stuff, this works well with toys that the kids are "bored" with.

______
Instead of buying napkins, use a wet washcloth. This is especially great with kids for meals or art projects. Also using cloth diapers is cheaper than disposables.
