For a garbage disposal that gets stuck, first turn off the switch. Then try using a broom handle end or a strong wooden spoon and gently push in a direction that will twist it out of the stuck position. Make sure to never put your hand in there!

Sharpen the blades by running the disposal with 5 or 6 ice cubes in it. And keep it deodorized by running lemon pieces in it.
