Advertising Tips
Business cards are very necessary to have on hand. You will need them when you are out in the public and mention what it is that you do. It provides your contact name and phone number and business information.
Many people also use "business cards" as "personal" cards instead of trying to search for a pen and paper for friends or new acquaintances to contact them with.
Another idea is to have "bookmark" business cards. If you have these produced nice enough, you can see if libraries would like to offer them for free to their visitors.
Have some bookstores give them away free in a cup or other display.
When I buy books, I automatically look for a bookmark at checkout time, but shy at the prices of some of the bookmarks for sale. If the bookstore isn't keen on using it because it looks more like blatant advertising, ask if they would like their bookstore information printed on the other side of the bookmark.
